If you update your address when renewing your road tax on line, does anyone know will they automatically post out a new VRC?

No they won't. You'll need to fill up the logbook with address change details and post it off . They'll then return the new document to your new address

If you lose your log book and request a replacement, can you change your address at the same time?

Yes ! You'll more than likely need to send proof of address with the application form for the replacement.

Send a copy of a utility bill with the new address and you should be grand

You need to actively change the address using the https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF111_en.pdf

Thanks for that, I'll send both in together. That form says that I should fill in sections 1 and 11 for change of address only but I can only see sections 1 to 9. Am I missing something?

If you're applying for a replacement reg cert you'll need to send the fully completed RF 134 + proof of new address + fee to your local motor tax office.

New document will be posted within a week or so of the application being processed

I updated my address when I was taxing the car online last time. Does this mean I don't have to do a change of address now?

    I see this online

    https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/changePersonalDetails.do
Please tick the relevant section (Change of Address) on the reverse side of your Vehicle Registration Certificate (VRC) and return to us with the correct details.
We will change your details and post a new VRC to you.
You can also change address online but only as part of an online motor tax transaction.
You cannot change your address by email or over the phone.
It does not mention posting an updated VRC out so best ring Shannon as I doubt they will send you another VRC as long as they haven't got the old one first.

Ii suggest you ring Shannon and let us know.

That means you probably won't need proof of address when applying for the replacement. Depends on your local MTO though
