Woman puts lipstick on son and then sues L’Oreal when it causes an allergic reaction on his forehead.

What’s now to stop someone brushing their teeth with Domestos bleach and suing Unilever when it causes an allergic reaction?

IMO L’Oreal were stupid to offer €12k settle this case. They would have won this. The lipstick was of merchantable quality and fit for purpose for applying to lips. It was left on the child’s skin for 2 hours.

Why after defending the action did they then offer €12k.

The mother should be reported to TUSLA for her wreckless behaviour in relation to het 3 year old child.

I had to head to the States last summer for work, and figured my crappy Irish skin wouldn't be able to handle the heat, so, for the very first time, I bought and applied some moisturiser to my face. Except, it wasn't moisturiser, it was moisturising face wash, which, you are apparently supposed to wash off immediately. Cue half the skin on my face turning into scales and falling off. Had to blame it on severe sunburn, as opposed to idiocy.
Are you telling me I could have made money off it?

    There's more to this story.

I'll bet she became aware of the lipstick's allergenic properties when her husband developed a severe rash on his balls after she sucked him off but she decided that would be a bit embarrassing a tale to tell going anywhere near a court room so junior was made the sacrificial lamb for her lawsuit :pac:

The boy, through his mother, had sued L'Oreal (UK) Limited

Yes, I'm sure the 6 year old boy wanted to sue and then bent his mothers arm into doing so.

I bought those Durex johnnies with the delay spray stuff in them. Yip, by mistake. Got a terrible reaction on the tip of my bell. Became all red and raw and had some difficulties taking a whizz for a few days. Maybe I should have givin my solicitor a call on the blower and got some compo from the fúckers. Emotional distress ...

Emotional distress for all the ladies who didn't get boned by you the days you were out of action.

    What?

You're aware, yes, that lipstick is designed to be worn on skin for hours and hours, and more sensitive skin than the forehead too? If it's causing rashes that's a serious thing.

Seriously? Comparing it to bleach? What actually happened is more akin to someone putting hand lotion on their feet.

well played for a bit of rash on 6yr old kid. anyway if company wants to pi$$ cash away on such cases let it be, should try likes of armani and hugo boss next to see if any rashes develop will have enough to bounce off kid trough college.

Childrens skin is a lot more sensitive and prone to reactions ,
Cosmetics are not for children it's that's simple ,

The fact one reaction wasn't enough for the mother says it all,
Child should have sued the mother,
if anyone was to be held responsible

The poster I quoted stated that if someone went after Armani they'd get even more. I was pointing out that L'Oreal own Armani cosmetics

    Fcuk's sake.

The description on the sodding lipstick is "long lasting colour" and "infallable 24hr colour". If you don't want your toddler to have letters on his head for 24hrs don't paint it on with stuff that ...lasts for 24hrs..

My daughter gave me a few lipsticks she didn't like the colour of.

To make a long story short, I tried one I liked, went about my business all day and went to clean it off that night. Couldn't get all the colour off my lips. Started with the makeup remover, soap and water and ended with trying to remove it with Vaseline. They helped but there was still colour on my lips and from all the rubbing and friction, my lips began to swell a little ( me being a delicate sort )

It was panic central and I was about to use the last resort...nail varnish remover...when my daughter arrived home.

    'Ma' says she

    'Your lips are georgous'

    ' What !!! says I

Apparently I had almost perfected the Angelina pout. By this stage I was almost in tears. My daughter explained the colour lipstick I chose from what she had given me was actually a lip stain which she proceded to educate me about.

Apparently lip stains stay on all day.

Having read the many ingredients listed and on seeing no 'E' numbers and no 'Sahara red' I deemed it safe to use :-) and have continued to use the same brand for a couple of years now.
