    Hi,
Am starting distance education green cert soon n Kildalton. Any advice or tips on it. Land is let out for the last 20 years at home as my father gave up farming when I was 10 and while I do have a strong interest in farming and may well go back to do some farming in future (land in my name since last year), it will never be sustainable to keep one person full time. There is 80 acres, roughly half is quite wet and is fragmented.

Also need access to farm accounts from what I'm told by the course instructors...any ideas on if there's a workaround to this as I don't think I'm comfortable asking someone for access to their accounts for the course.
Any other advice on this course or if you have gone through it before?
    TIA

You can get around the accounts. Say to them you have a v basic system where you only have A few cattle a few months of the year and work out your rough costs from that. Guys will give you a rough idea of what you should be spending. bigger issue is the diary-you will have to be fairly creative in thinking of what you do on the farm week to week( it's a pain!!) any friends that could give you an idea around what you could be doing each week?? A lot of it is fairly basic-the cattle part in kildalton I found v good-mechanics wasn't My strong point! Pm if you need any more info :)
