Hi there, just enquiring about Secondary Schools in Galway city. There are some old threads discussing this but wondering if anyone could give an update on schools in more recent years? In particular looking for feedback on The Bish and Colaiste na Coiribe. Any opinions? Thank you.

If it’s for entry in September 2018 you are possibly too late. Offers for secondary schools went out in December 2017.
Bish is boys only, good for sports and academic. Central city location.
Colaiste na Corribe mixed sex, very academic, edge of city location, have to pass Irish test for entry. Both very good schools and can be hard to get a place if not in feeder schools.

The Sunday Independent published school league data at the end on January. A nine year analysis 2009-17 put Colaiste na Coiribe in second place in Connaught with The Bish in 5th place. Salerno was in top spot with the Jes in 4th.

Thank you for this, Shenanagans. It's good to have this information but I also know that the league tables are based entirely on students progression to third level rather than looking at each school holistically so trying to find out a little more about the schools. Thanks again.
