    hi,

Thinking of buying a Xiaomi Mi Max 2 but want to make sure it will get 4G on the ID Mobile network as it only supports 1800 1900 2100 2300 2500 & 2600 bands but not the 800 or 900 bands.

    Can anyone help?

I contacted ID Mobile but their helpdesk didn't know

    ID use Three's network.

    Three use:
    900 and 2100 for 3G
    800 and 1800 for 4G

They use the lower frequencies in rural areas (800 and 900).

    The Mi Max 2 has 3G 900 and 2100
The only frequency it doesn't have is 4G 800 but that is arguably the most important frequency.

    Thanks Ten Pin,

So basically the Mi Max 2 will get ID 4G on the 1800 band around Dublin but will only get 3G outside Dublin?

In theory yes but only ID and Three know which areas ID have access to.

For example ID might have only 4G in a certain rural area and no 3G whereas Three have access to both. In other words ID might not be renting all frequencies on all Three masts.

That's just a consideration to bear in mind, coverage might well be identical but adding the lack of the 800 4G band in the phone could mean no signal or poor coverage.

iD are part of 27205 so they get the same coverage as Three customers.

The 4G footprint is roughly 50/50 B3 B20 so devices without B20 will suffer outside built up areas.
