Concrete base for Steeltech shed

I’m getting a Steeltech shed soon and am getting prices for the base. Should I put a DPC beneath the base?

The shed will be bolted to the base and a floor poured inside, their recommendation is to put a DPC under the floor, the shed will be fully insulated and used as an office, will I have enough DPC to keep it dry? Any suggestions

You only need the one DPC, the extra one you are suggesting would probably leave the edges of the first concrete pour below ground level rendering the additional DPC ineffective.

The DPC needs to come up around the inside of the shed when the floor is poured then trimmed back afterwards.

What sort of / depth of floor do you propose to pour inside? If it's only some sort of thin screed, I'd go with a DPC under the main slab and make sure it laps up the side anywhere it's covered. If it's a more substantial floor and/or the shed is not flush or nearly flush with the base, then DPC under the inside floor. At end of the day, it's only a small extra cost to double up and you can't put it in afterwards!

If you're going to be working in there for a lot of your time, I'd be inclined to put in a radon barrier.
Check the map for your area: http://www.epa.ie/radiation/radonmap/help/

A good DPM, 1200 gauge, if continuous and without tears would be perfectly fine as a radon membrane in a shed I would have thought. If the membrane is terminated within the enclosure and just trimmed at the perimeter it's not going to function as a radon barrier anyway, any radon gas will simply rise up at the edge and into the interior space anyway, so pointless unless the membrane is turned down and out (if you get me) as it's done in a house build.

I meant to have it properly fitted. Especially if the OP is in an area of risk.

Hi, I’m having a shed installed and wondering if you would have the details of who you used for the base?

Got a 5*3 base recently in mayo and costing 1500..had three quotes that was the best. I dug the area myself and was told by steeltech there was no need and would've costed a lot less if I didn't do it.
