Hi, I'm in need if a root canal and in terrible pain, but I'm also 32weeks pregnant. My dentist assures me its fine to have xrays and the root canal treatment but I'm unsure.

Am I safer to just have the tooth pulled? To wait a few weeks and have root canal then- is there a danger to the baby with possible infection?

I've been googling and getting all sorts if conflicting info.

    Thanks in advance!

I had one while pregnant also. I wore my ear phones and had music playing to relax. They used a numbing medicine without epinephrine in it because I was pregnant. No issues whatsoever. I was also told the X-ray machines they use now have less radiation than a mobile phone.

Good to hear, ear phones are a great idea too!

In all fairness a root canal involves a lot of X-rays. Now they probably are of no consequence however I personally dont think its worth even the tinest risk. Get the first stage done (no X-ray needed and it keeps the tooth pain free) and have it completed once your baby is born. Its also hard ly in the dental chair when your heavily pregnant.
