text messages after moving to Apple

    Hey, my sister got an iphone for christmas - had an android prior to that
    I also have an iphone
    when i now go to text her it is only showing imessages ... ie ones since she changed her phone ( did not change her number) we would have had 1000's of messages prior to that
    are they all lost now ?

    I’d imagine they were stored on the phone itself and not the sim. There might be a way to do a backup and restore
