Remove McAfee from W 8.1

After performing a recovery, I used the McAfee removal tool. However there are elements remaining. How do I remove them? No entries in "Uninstall Programes".

I don't like McAfee, but it is quite complicated to remove it

Hi sorry to hijack the thread but I having a somewhat similar issue with mcafee. I bought a new laptop and attempted to download my mcafee software from my account. (I have uninstalled the trial version that came with the laptop) it keeps asking me to restart the laptop to uninstall the previous version ) I also tried the step 2 above - the removal tool and that seemed to run smoothly until I tried to download mcafee again and it went back to the “restart the laptop to uninstall “- I thought step 2 would remove any residual traces of mcafee and it should download ok?
Any ideas much appreciated

Two things you probably didn't try(not necessary in this order):
1. All same procedure but in Safe Mode...
2. Contact McAfee support...

Here is how to try other option: 7 ways to boot into Safe Mode in Windows 10.
these will do you just fine
1. Use the System Configuration tool (msconfig.exe),
or
2. Use the “Shift + Restart” combination.
