I was browsing on youtube looking for some nice game recipes when I came across Scott Rea cooking up some crow. It seems it was his first time trying it and he said it was as good if not better than pigeon.

Has anyone tried it before? I must say after watching the video I think I am convinced to give it a try it looked pretty tasty. I know people eat rooks but I've always been told crow is not all that edible seeing as its a carrion species.

I hate wasting anything I shoot seems a pity to waste if it actually makes for a good meal. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has tried it or if they have been tempted to give it a bash

dont think id eat crow,or rook, ive seen them eat all sorts of crap, including picking human waste, now maybe they would be fine to dine on,but id prefer a pigeon, think they just eat corn, rape, berries etc if im correct, but each to there own.

never tried crow & have no intention of trying it

the crows they eat in the UK, as far as I'm aware, are the young 'branchers' that are on the branches, having left the nest, around early May

I'll eat crows if they're the last thing standing between me and starvation. Let me correct that, I'll probably chance them before I'll resort to eating fox...

I've tried them, nothing fancy, just pan fried with olive oil and salt n pepper. Nothing to write home about etheir good nor bad. Similar to pigeon, but I think the odour from the crow it self could be off putting.
The comment about the branchers is correct as to being a delicacy, but in several states in the USA adult crows are hunted for the pot and not as vermin.

I won't be too worried about their diet, your at more risk in your own home from food born disease. By the way while on the subject of wild food, did you know that our beloved wild meats, fish and feathered game may never be called organic produce no matter how natural and unspoilt they may be because under the regulations governing the production etc of organic food wild food sources have no traceability...........maddness pure bureaucratic madness.
