Any recommendations for books about De Valera

Hi there,

I'm interested in learning more about De Valera. There are a fair few books on him, recent and not so recent. Any recommendations for decent books? I see TIm Pat coogan wrote a book on him and I liked his account of the IRA, so might start there but would like to read a few other books to form a more rounded knowledge.

Not directly about DeValera however it deals with one of his more critical periods is Robert Fisk's "The Emergency" about Ireland in WWII.

Ascendant

The new one, De Valera, by David McCullagh looks pretty good.



I haven't read it yet, but the author's previous book on John A. Costello was a rewarding one.

I think Frank Pakenham Longford and Thomas P ONeill wrote Eamon de Valera's official biography .
