Hi all, looking to buy a house on a small plot of land 0.2 acres. Very old house built prior to planning permission. There is a septic tank in situ. Not the recommended 7m from house and not sure how far percolation area is from the house.

Was hoping to talk to a planner from the council to see if the proximity of the septic tank could be an issue in the future. And im not sure how we find out about the percolation area?

Does anyone know how to go about talking to a council planner or if there is someone better to talk to? The house is in dun Laoghaire-Rathdown

Council planner may not offer any advice unless you are planning new development on the site.

Better to talk to an engineer who can view the site and advise on remedial works if required.
