New XC60 - dealer issues

We placed an order for a new XC60 with a dealer at Swords two weeks ago - quite strangely, the sales rep did not send a contract and kept asking us to add on new features which we agreed. However, the sales lady informed us yesterday that Volvo has "turned down" about 10 such orders from Ireland, including ours. Then, the sales rep tried really hard to sell us the two cars they already have. Unfortunately, both are not OK for us.

Now, they are reluctant to answer our calls... we called because we would like to have our deposit back... we wonder if anyone would have similar experience since there are 10 buyers being turned down... we really like the new XC60... should we try other dealers if this one is not dealing it properly?

This is a very bad experience. No trust on this dealer whatsoever... would appreciate any comments...

We live near this volvo and their adjacent VW dealer and have ended up purchasing 2 volvos from Kildare and carlow garages and VW from Frank keane liffey Valley. Says it all really!

Have refused to get any of our car serviced with them too so travel that bit extra it is worth it.

Volvo aren't taking any orders at the moment. Happens every year around this time due to the change over from model year 18 to model year 19.

They won't take any orders until March and at that stage you are looking at late June delivery so may as well wait for 182.

Any Volvo dealer who says different isn't giving the whole truth.

Well... when we placed the order, the dealer ensured us that the car would arrive in 12 weeks, "maybe sooner"... This might be some sale tactic, but it does not work at all. They might not be aware of this situation "happens every year"; they might want to try their luck to get it through;... ... why am I considering this? I wish I could still trust these people and get back to them in March.

Thanks anyway, good to know this. We will consider other makes then.

No doubt R.O.R. is correct about the reason the order was rejected but it is hard to fathom a manufacturer running their business like this.
Any company refusing new orders for weeks on end doesn’t deserve to do well.
It’s no wonder you don’t see more Volvo cars on the road I’d this is the carry on.

Unfortunately, I don't think the person you were dealing with has been there that long so isn't used to this situation.

Any other similar vehicles will either cost you more for the same level of standard specification, or take just as long.

F-Pace fresh orders are around 8 weeks as are Discovery Sports. Q5 is about 10 weeks and the new X3 will be July delivery as well.

There may be Mercedes GLC models ex. stock and they are reasonably priced but they aren't a patch on the Volvo
