    Hi,

When I first got efibre my profile was set to 80mbps. After a year or so there were issues with my line and my profile was dropped to 60mbps.

I have been keeping a close eye on the max attainable speed for the past 18 months or so and it's now usually between 105-108mpbs. Eir's website states speeds up to 90mpbs are available on my line.

What would be the ideal buffer to have between profile speed and the routers max attainable speed?

    Thanks,
    doney84

60 80 and 90 are all 20Mb US profiles, so we can assume the US isn't in question.

Attainables drop as the link rate increases, so a 40Mb link can say attain 130Mb, but drop to attain 100 when set to 70Mb. This being true the best to do is call and have them pump you to 80Mb, read attainables and if 95+ then go to 90Mb. Each change takes about 3mins tops on the call.

    Hi ED E,

Many thanks for your reply. I will go with your advice and phone them later to increase it to 80Mb and take it from there.

One last question if u don't mind, I've noticed that my dsl connection disconnects and reconnects roughly every 40-45 days. Would this be normal behaviour?

    Many Thanks,

Depends on the operator but average uptime above 14 days and I wouldn't worry.

My operator is Eir, but recently received a letter about a price increase so that may change.

Thanks for answering my questions and putting my mind at ease about the dsl uptime.
