Looking at applying for the herd number, im aware theres 2 forms (ER1) the herd keeper; and (ER1.1) the herdowner.
Ill be leasing land and know ill need to submit a copy of the maps.
Wondering if anyone might be able to tell me
-do i need a written lease agreement for a set amount of time? (or can it be yearly?)
-is the standard form the ER1 or should i apply for both (ER1 & ER1.1)
-can i obtain maps of the ground online?

    Have a look here: http://www.agriland.ie/farming-news/apply-herd-flock-number/

Check with the local Department of Ag office, but it's my understanding that:

    (1) You need a written lease agreement with the amount of time stated - check the IFA website for a template

    (2) ER1 is the longer form and that's the one you need for a new herd number. The ER1.1 form is a one-page form for adding someone's name to an existing her number

    (3) You can get maps of the ground from Google maps, but I'm not sure this will be acceptable. The lease should have a copy of maps with it anyway, I think, so whoever signs/witnesses that (solicitor) should be able to help
