Replacing a Carrier Line

I was just wondering whether anyone had ever had any success getting Eir technical to replace a carrier line? We live in rural Wexford, though hardly that rural - right between Rosslare and Wexford town, so between two major hubs in the area and our local exchange is Fibre enabled, however we live on a road which does not yet have FTTH. When we moved in we had a terrible time with Eir - we ordered broadband (and a landline, which apparently we had to have but didn't really want), and it took them a couple of months to connect it, and when they finally connected it up, we had no broadband. After a couple of weeks of being passed from agent to agent, we finally found out that we were on a carrier line, which cannot support fixed line internet. To be honest I'm still not sure whether this was a pre-existing line to the house (it is quite old and I know the previous resident did not have internet), or whether the Eir engineer made a huge mistake and put a carrier line in, but if we had a proper line, we could avail of FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet), while waiting for FTTH to be installed. Without it we are stuck with the wireless internet companies - Rural Wifi is out as we're not even in 3G coverage for the 3 network, we're with Carnsore Broadband at the moment and, while they used to provide a good enough service for what we needed, recently it has been dreadful (nearly dial-up speeds at peak times, long total outages (an hour or two at a time, even off-peak, plus nearly two weeks with no service at all over Christmas).

I work from home a couple of days a week, so we need reliable internet, I've even tried offering to pay Eir to have the carrier line replaced, but nothing seems to have worked, I just wondered if anyone had ever had any success as I know this is an issue that a lot of people have faced.

If a few houses have gone vacant since you last tried, try again.

Carriers turn one line into two, so if there are 8 homes in a lane the way carriers go is for four to cancel their landlines so the muxes get taken out.
