HAP - How does it work?

I've been on DCC housing list the past six months, my partner has been on it the same length of time but as we don't live together we had to file separate applications.

I do however reside with my father and brother who are also on the housing list. We all reside in overcrowded accommodation at my father's mother's house.

Upon taking a look at the current rental market it would cost on average €1800 to €2000 per month for a standard 3 bed property in the Dublin region.

While my father and brother are entitled to receive up to €1500 per month, adding me to their claim would only gain an extra €75 per month. Neither amount would allow for us to be able to afford a property.

Would it however be possible for both applications to receive HAP for the same property? As I being classed as a single individual am entitled to €430 in shared accommodation - thus allowing us to afford a property to rent.
