AR8000 scanner has died.

    Apologies in advance if I am in the wrong forum.

    Our AOR AR8000 scanner has just died. Symptoms ;

    1. After normal switch on and functioning for a few minutes a PLL error message displayed and unit stopped working.

    2. There is no sound.

    3. Squelch function inoperative.

    4. Scan function inoperative.

    5. You can roll through stored channels manually but none of them have sound.

    6. The horizontal signal strength bars are totally inoperative.

    I tried holding down CLEAR and restarting. This did nothing bar resetting the VFO (?) to 80.00.

    New batteries and using external power source made no difference.

    My preliminary and non-technical diagnosis is that the scanner is truly dead and we need to get a new one :rolleyes:

    Any ideas ?

    I am in Dublin. Any repair agents ?
