Eir Fibre - how does it work

    Hi stuff.hunter,

    Fibre cables run from the exchange to the cabinet, which then connects to your home via the copper line. FTTC line will get maximum speeds of 100mbps, However, you'd be getting speeds upto 40 to 50 mbps.

    Fibre cables run from the exchange to the cabinet, which then connects to your home via the copper line. FTTC line will get maximum speeds of 100mbps, However, you'd be getting speeds upto 40 to 50 mbps.

    so in general, old telephone line will be used, right? 
    i guess, its a bit pointless then as who want to pay for full speed getting a half only? ...why eir wont connect to the house with an ethernet cable to provide advertised 100mbps ?

    Generally speaking, it would be, but this would be determined by the engineer upon arrival.

    The price of your broadband is not dependant on your speed, but the amount of usage.
