marble in a bathroom- too high maintenance?

After being determined to stay simple and stick with concrete, porcelain etc I've come across a marble tile I love and considering putting it in the ensuite bathroom- the tile -place is saying once sealed and sealed yearly it will be fine but I'd love to know firsthand from someone who has it in their bathroom. Like If I don't wipe the walls in the shower after- what would happen over time? We do have mechanical ventilliation which may help 'dry' out surfaces but I'm not 100% on this.

Any advice? I've gotten a sample of a marble effect tile but It's not nearly as nice .
