VRS central locking question

So, I bit the bullet and bought a VRS!

The car is great! 2011, 69500 miles, 1 owner, full service history, very happy!

Now, the central locking. When I open the car with the key, only the driver door opens. I have to press the button inside the car to open the other doors. Is this normal?

Also, the boot only opens by the key. The handle on the boot won't open it unless I unlock it with the key first.

Lastly, on my display when I turn.off the car, it says "Check safe locking". From research, seemingly this means that the doors will be deadlocked. No real clue what that means to be honest.

    Any help, much appreciated!

If you press the open button a second time does it open all the doors ? You can code them to only open drivers door on one press and all doors on second press.

Can you not change that in the onboard computer settings from driver's door to all doors? I could when I had a Passat CC, I assume the Octavia might be the same.

No, I tried that and it didn't work.

No idea. This was my first port of call!

Just didn't have a chance to check the manual this evening.

If I remember correctly you can access the trip computer via a button at the end of one of the steering wheel stalks or via a button on the steering wheel if the car has a multifunction steering wheel. That should bring up a menu on the small screen on the dashboard between the speedo and rev counter clocks. You will have to scroll through the menu to find the settings and then doors/locks or something like that.

Cheers bazz. I'll report back my findings!!

You need to press 2 to 3 times in very quick bursts to get all doors and boot to then unlock by hand.

    Press once just driver's door.

    Do as above all open.

If issue still occurs check battery in key may be near end.

Yep, two presses quickly will open all doors. Scroll down to the convenience menu on the display and select all doors.

    Yes,
There should be a button on one of the stalks ( I cant remember which one exactly )
But by pressing it you will see the MFD on the dash changing,
    Follow this video then.

I don't know if my is a more basic spec, but I don't seem to have this. I've tried all the combinations on the stalks, but alas, to no avail.

I spoke to the dealer today and he said that it maybe the key and to try the other one at home, as I've tried the quick press route already

Have you got steering wheel controls?

Is it a UK import by any chance ?

This apparantly means that when you lock the car with the button on the key fob after you leave the car, the doors can't be opened from the inside. So don't try it if someone is left in the car :p

Is there a centre display like what's on the video? My 07 had the older centre display and it was changed by a rocker switch on the end of the wiper lever.

Lot of the UK imports came without a lot of gear including mine.

    Irish spec came with more.

    Typical isn't it!

Now, for fear of looking like a complete idiot, it worked with the second key.

Cheers for all the help! The blonde at the roots thing is permanent it seems!!

Change the battery in the other.

Key chip board could be damaged either.
