Heya, so I've ran into a bit of confusion.

I've bought a car in uk, 08 mondeo, in the run up to the purchase id checked the vrt which was coming in at roughly 960 euro. Anyway, got the car last week, checked site again and still saying 960. had the appointment thursday morning and got turned away due to no V5c, rookie mistake i know. However when i went back on to triple check the vrt the site was down. anyway went on today and now the vrt calculator is saying the car will cost 1300 to clear. same details as before same mileage same model everything! only thing that has changed is the VRT calculator was down in between.... any others had this

They updated the data at the weekend (that's why it was down apparently).

I think they do it every few months or at least once a year anyway. They also prune old stat codes that have not been used for ages from the database.

I'm not sure if there is any good news for you other than paying it and then appealing but you would need to put a good case to them that they over valued the car's OSMP in their calculations.

Yeah i know their appeals process doesn't usually work in the buyers favour, just annoying when I've budgeted for the original amount

Maybe wait another few days and it might drop again given we will be in February. They are supposed to adjust them every month for depreciation but then again it could be the end of February when they do it again.

08 Mondeo is not even worth 1300, so how can it be 1300 to clear the fecking thing.

says the car is worth 6700 and the vrt is 19% of it. thankfully i paid nothing near that

€1300 to clear a 2008 Mondeo? There are 2008 Mondeos for sale for €1300! Plenty for around €2500. I’d say that’s way overvalued on OMSP. Did you buy the one in the UK very cheap?

yup got it for cheap, top spec model, but 1300 seems excessive
