Alflorex for ibs

Have been taking Alflorex for the last two months for ibs and seems like my symptoms have gotten much worse. Has anybody had success with this probiotic? Do you just need to ride out the side effects at the start before you see any benefits? I stupidly came off another probiotic that was working well for me but when my symptoms flared up again I thought I'd try this. Fatigue that comes with it is a killer too. If anybody has any positive stories please do share!

I can really strongly recommend a very high dose acidophilus, I have been taking them for 10 years and it's made a massive difference. I would also recommend doing a food diary for a while to know what foods to avoid (for me white bread and rice).

Hmm will need to check if it contains acidophilus. As regards food, I know what can trigger it for the most part (alcohol and coffee) but avoiding those things completely is very difficult.

Anyone else out there have a good experience of Alflorex?

I've tried several probiotics including Alflorex and find that Biokult is the best one for me. Alflorex is the one promoted by most medics because it's been developed in Ireland but didn't suit me at all. Maybe try another.

I have been using Alflorex for a few months now, and find it really good - it is expensive @€;35 a dose. I have found it for sale on Ebay however which is a good saving. About €10 - €12 in the difference. I cant add a link but if you type Alflorex into ebay you will see.

Also if you buy it in Boots, and use 3 for the price of 2, you save E32, but it does mean a large outlay every 3 months.

A consultant recommended it to me and i found it was one of the few that didn't give me diarrhoea. However, if it doesn't agree with you then stop it and go back to the one that does.

After 3 months I gave up on it and went back on Udos Choice. Didn't see any noticeable improvement with Alflorex, maybe it works for some but not for me.
