Out in a couple of months, Stephen Soderbergh's new movie looks like a great psychological thriller. A distinguishing factor about this was that it was shot entirely on iphones (no regular cameras). You won't be able to tell from the trailer - it looks very professional.

Apple will get a lot of mileage out of this. :)

Claire Foy looks terrific in this too.

Looks and sounds like it has been filmed on un-modified iPhones too (IIRC, Tangerine did something similar but used boom-mikes and attachable lens). Not sure how I feel about that as some of those scenes looked way too cheap & flimsy, even if someone as talented as Soderbergh is behind the camer... uh, phone :D

The actual film seems like it could be pretty decent though, and potentially very tense.

It reminds me a bit of his Side Effects, which I enjoyed. I doubt the iPhone gimmick will bother me.

I saw this last night - it was very good. Claire Foy and Joshua Leonard really carried the whole thing (especially Foy). Any scenes shared by both were terrific.

I thought it dragged a small bit in the final third (the
    bit in the car boot/woods
    felt a bit tacked on.
    Closure on the
    hospital insurance scam
was welcome - it made it less of a MacGuffin that fed into the story in the first place.

Very enjoyable though - I liked it.

I know it's silly, but I absolutely hate the title of this film.

And the phone camera thing is a real put off.

I enjoyed it. The iphone camera gave it a gritty, lo-fi look that suited the story.

Good to have Soderbergh back directing.

I enjoyed this more than expected, particularly as the main character was fleshed out much more than might be expected for this sort of story. The third act does dip somewhat (
David's switch from stalker to indiscriminate multiple murderer, coupled with his ability to survive significant bloodloss from a throat wound and sneak up on Sawyer like a ninja, all felt cut from the Generic Thriller Cliché list
) but for the most part it works very well. I do wish
the ambiguity about George/David had been maintained throughout, it felt very pat and simplistic once that was revealed, whereas the continued question about how much of what Sawyer thinks is happening is real worked much better than the trailers had led me to expect.

The "filmed on a phone" thing felt a bit silly - once we get into the hospital it works quite well, but for the exterior scenes it feels ill-suited and a bit meh. It would've been better to film those scenes on normal cameras to heighten the sense of claustrophobia, IMO. Having said that, the
    overdose-triggered freakout scene
was very effective considering how simple it was in its design.

I find myself unwilling to believe that all the sound recording for this film was done on a phone, incidentally.

One thing that stood out for me was how quick the credits were at the end. They had just finished by the time I had turned away from the screen and started walking towards the door.

I'd say they saved a fortune on crew costs.

Unexpectedly really enjoyed this movie. Thought Claire Foy was great and interesting to see in a completely different role to hers in The Crown. Much more enjoyable than the highly touted A Quiet Place imo.
