Courses: Wet or Dry

Just looking for information on courses at this time of the year. This could be a handy resource for people thinking about travelling and playing different courses and open events around the country. We all know which courses near us are to be avoided during the winter but it's hard to find out about courses outside your area to what condition they would usually be in. A post and bit of information here could save someone travelling a distance on a sat or Sunday morning only to find out the course is a swamp when they arrive. I'll get it started by asking for info on coollattin?

Played Coolattin last Saturday and it was a swamp. Fairways and greens weren't too bad but the rough and walkways were really bad.

Doonbeg was dry at the weekend and a decent run on the fairways for the time of year

Played the back nine at Bellewstown on Sunday. Tenth was marshy but the rest were in reasonable shape, given the relentlessly brutal weather we've been having (when is it going to end???).

We played Corballis after all the rain recently and it was in fantastic condition.

Haven't played it in a while but Nenagh was always a great winter course. Unbelievable drainage.

All links should be very dry. Arklow has an open singles every Saturday until Paddy's Day if anyone wants to escape a swamp.

Blesington Lakes GC lads one of the driest inland courses in or near the metropolitan area, no glug glug here only plug plug.

I played mt juliet last Saturday and was surprised even with the amount of rain that had fallen how wet it was. It varied in spots but it was very wet on all fairways with the rough similar not much worse.. One plus was it didn't churn up under you like a lot of places, was just wet underfoot. I'm saying I'm surprised as I know how many millions they have invested in it in recent years and it still wouldn't be close to the drainage levels of the heritage.

I would think 98% of parklands right now are in a jocker. Links is your friend at this time of year

Carton Month today was very dry unless you went deep in to rough and one or two spots.

Played there today. In really good shape. Some run even on some fairways and the greens in superb shape.

The 18th fairway was probably the worst on the course but was by no means unplayable

No temp green & winter green. Mats on par 3. 14th out of action and replacement hole on 17B was in play instead
