    Hi all,

My wife is Australian and we are moving home to Ireland in June.
Over here, she is a Cardiac Sonographer (fully qualified and registered) and while she is looking for a similar role in Ireland, it seems to be referred to as a Cardiac Physiologist.

Can anyone shed some light on any known differences (if any) between the two titles?
Alternatively, if anyone is or knows a Cardiac Physiologist then can you provide a general job description of the role?
Having trouble finding any useful information online about it.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cardiac physiologists perform ecgs and stress tests as well as working in cath labs and rhythm management. Does your wife have any qualification in the other areas of cardiology or just echo alone? A cardiac physiologist would be expected to be fully competent in all areas even if they are hired to only perform echos. The recognised course in Ireland is the degree in clinical Measurement science in DIT or equivalent as verified by the IICMS which is the professional body that covers all clinical physiologists in Ireland. They may be able to shed more light on whether your wife's qualification is recognised here.
