    Hi

I am in Citywest, Dublin. We are getting a new kitchen but don’t know who to go?
Any anyone recommend a company they went with and had no problems.

A lot of the companies seem to want the final payment before they will actually fit the kitchen, but surely you should only pay the balance after the job is done.

Any companies to stay away from?

Award kitchens in dublin 12....must disclose owner is my friend's dad...but I have seen their work first hand and it was the ideas they came up with that i would never have thought of.

I got prices from a few different kitchen companies. Ikea were excellent, the design and warranty were worth the money. But through the jigs and the reels it didnt go through.
I went with Cash and Carry kitchens on the Longmile Road..equally just as good. Very happy with the finished product and price.

I did go in there, they are around years & one of the few kitchen companies that you pay the balance when the job is completed, which is the way it should be.
I was let in by a buzzer at the door by a Margaret (I think). I found her terrible, she kept talking the whole time & followed me around the whole time, I actually came out with a headache from her non stop talking. It was very off putting. U like to look around & make up your own mind

I did visit their branch in Liffey valley & I did really like there stuff, but what is putting me off is, you leave a payment down & they want the whole amount paid in full & then they will only come out & fit the kitchen. You have nothing to fall back on if a bad job is done. They have the money they don’t care

I used cash & carry kitchens 10 years ago. Great quality kitchen. Everything still looks new

    You have consumer rights.
Try going into powercity to buy appliances and pay the rest when they are delivered and see the reaction you'll get.

    Lucan kitchens http://lucankitchens.com/

Only have ours about 18 months so can't say what it'll be like after 10 years but right now it's as good as the day it went in. No quality issues at all and they were very helpful in the design process. They were recommended to us by a friend who'd had a kitchen in from them about 3 years ago and they're still happy with theirs too.

What will consumer rights do when you can’t get them to come back to fix something once they got the money?

Consumer rights is not much good when there’s some small things wrong and you try chasing.

I’d go with some place they’d let you pay after fitting.

And avoid those that will sell you the kitchen and offer a fitter, who you then have to pay separate, so it’s then a separate transaction.

    Came with 25 years guarantee

for defects in "material and workmanship".

I can't think of many defects in material and workmanship that wouldn't present themselves for a couple of decades.

Had a kitchen fitted about a month ago. White gloss finish, decent enough size. Came in at a price that I figured was very reasonable.

I am located closer to him than you are, so I dunno if he's just well priced for my area or not, but I'd definitely advise giving him a call. His name is Jason, and his site is http://www.boylekitchens.com/

So far I've had no issues, or problems, but it is only a month old. He measured it in a less than an hour, whilst giving me choices on finish, worktop, etc. I have a chimney breast in the room that I wanted covered and he worked around that expertly. Made it look really nice. He fitted it a week later, in one day (2 people, and they just belted through it, no messing around or drinking tea all day).
