I’ve some songs on my Apple Watch series 3 for the sole purpose of exercising. Is it possible to just have the songs on the watch and not have to have them on my iPhone too?

Now that the songs are on my watch id rather just delete iTunes from my iPhone.

You can delete the songs but not the playlist afaik.
Also if you needed to edit the playlist you'd need to ensure you have those songs back on the iphone unless you were using apple music.
