    Hi,

Is it possible to apply for Single Person Child Carers Tax Credit for part of a year? My ex is still waiting to sign off on his new place before moving out and I thought I’d read somewhere that you can only apply for a full year. If that’s true, does that mean if he moves out in say March, that I can’t apply for the tax credit for this year because I was cohabiting for part of the year?
    Thanks

Your exactly right. It basically goes on your status from January 1st. It also works the other way, so if you started cohabiting in June you could continue receiving the credit until the end of the year.

Thanks for the reply. That seems a very unfair system. My ex will be at a new address very shortly, but for the sake of that few weeks I can't apply for the credit.
