Can a Secondary teacher sub in primary?

    Just wondering can I sub in primary I'm a secondary teacher?

    Yes. Once registered with the TC there's no restriction on your subbing at primary level but you will be paid the unqualified rate.

    Tks I used to sub before a few years back but the Dept stopped Secondary teachers and retired subbing so it must have changed again?

    It has changed in the short term due to the lack of subs, but, as pointed out, it will be at the unqualified rate and you may not be allowed do more than 4 days in the one class in a row.

    No. The 5-day rule only applies to people with no TC number at all, not those registered in a different sector.

    They never stopped registered teachers working in a different sector to their qualification once registered - secondary in primary, primary in secondary, or FE in primary or secondary. They clamped down on having to prove you tried to get a suitably qualified teacher first but working across sectors has continued all along.

    is this the same for primary teachers for secondary? im a pme primary but have an undergrad in French and German. Could I sub in Galway?
