If the front wheels lifted, and engine left running will it add mileage to the speedometer

Of course. As long as the wheels are being turned.

Thanks for that. Would there be a problem with overheating. I need to add 1000 to the present reading

1000 miles jogging on the spot wouldn't be great for it i'd say. Minimum of say ten straight hours at high revs under no load.

Thanks for all the helpful advice.
No intention of doing anything illegal. Must stay within the law.

A couple of road trips are in order so.

A trip around Ireland should put those miles on.

Base of the M1 to where it meets the border with NIRL is 50 miles, do 20 laps, about 45 minutes a lap, 15 hours worth.

Out of curiosity, how would increasing mileage help someone avoid VAT? God help the environment if there's some loophole which encourages people to drive 1000km needlessly to save a few quid.

In the old days it would only be necessary to disconnect the speedometer cable at the wheel end and use an electric drill to spin the miles up. Probably all electronic now.

There is one dodge when someone buys a car in uk less vat for export if it has less than 6k miles on it as vat will have to be paid here.
If someone runs up the clock and does away with all original receipts from the purchase, they could possibly avid the vat here as its not payable if over 6k miles on the clock.
It is not legit but has been done.
Id strongly suspect that this would come back to bite though.

With no air flow through the grille I’d say she would get fairly hot.youd want to be sure the fan cuts in.id drive it around instead.safer. If she fell off axle stands or whatever you were using she would take off like a rocket ship.also while the wheels are spinning you would have to make sure no kids or anyone or dogs etc got near it or they would get mangled.
