Is the 3 million euro "anonymous" donation for the UCD running track suspicious

Should the government confirm that the taxpayer is not behind the 3 million euro anonymous donation to the UCD running track? It may be simple benevolence but somehow I doubt it. I suspect politics of some description may be at play here. Is the donation being made under some sort of obligation to (or coercion by) a third party? Perhaps corruption is so normal in this country that the smell of it is everywhere.

Not sure what this is about, but erm have you bothered considering its from a wealthy ex student who was on the running squad...

The government is not in the habit of giving any money to anyone without someone claiming credit. Ever

I considered the former and discounted it. The latter is where the intrigue arises, why are they not claiming credit if it is the government. Corruption is more common than generosity so I would be a bit reticent on the tooth fairy tale you seem to be swallowing hook, line and sinker.

Seriously. You reckon the gov gave 3 million in a grant and didn’t claim credit for it?
