I got Digiweb Tooway Satellite broadband installed last week and it was useless so I am uninstalling it. I can't return the equipment (there is a plug-in modem along with the dish) so I was wondering is there anything useful I can do with the dish? I presume the modem is of no use. Apologies to the mods if I posted this in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

What do you mean you cannot return it ? Is there not a 14 day cooling off period ? It would be a waste to use it as a satellite dish for TV reception. You'd have to change the LNB for a start as thats a RX/TX one thats on it.

4.d On termination or cancellation of the Service Contract for any reason whatsoever, it is the responsibility of the Subscriber to return by recorded mail in good condition and suitably packaged, the VDSL Modem and any other related equipment provided by Digiweb. Failure to return equipment within 14 days of the service termination/cancellation date will generate an automatic equipment fee of €99 including VAT which will be deducted from Subscribers and Subscriber hereby agrees to same.

That contradicts what I was told via email from Digiweb:
"Cancellation's prior to 6 months of the contract end date will mean that customer's must pay a cancellation fee of €100 plus 30 days notice( which will be the cost of the customers plan for a month) or if the customer chooses to cancel after 6 months, the customer must pay a cancellation fee of €50 plus the 30 days notice charge. The installation fee charged at point of sale was for the purchase of the equipment"

Take note of the last line.

You do have a 14 day cooling off period for the contract and equipment. However if the dish is installed then they don't have to take it back. They don't have to take anything back that can't be resold as new.

Well the terms and conditions of the contract you signed should state the cooling off period and what you need to do in order not to be liable etc. As far as I know this is 14 days from when you agreed the contract. If you are still within that, write to them/email them quickly
    6. TERMINATION
    (a) If Subscriber is dissatisfied with the Service or any related terms, conditions, rules, policies, guidelines, or practices, and if these issues cannot be resolved through Digiweb’s Customer Complaints procedure, Subscriber’s sole remedy is to discontinue using the Service, cancel the account, and pay any cancellation fees that apply. To cancel the Service Subscriber must send a written request for termination by mail or fax to Digiweb and same must be signed by an authorised representative of Subscriber to arrive not less than 5 working days before the end of the current billing term. Should Subscriber terminate this agreement during the initial term for any reason other than a failure by Digiweb to provide Internet Access service for a period in excess of 5 days, a cancellation fee equal the remainder of the contract term will become immediately due, and Subscriber acknowledges and agrees to pay such fee.
    (b) Upon cancellation or otherwise upon termination of this Agreement, related email and hosting services will be terminated and all Subscriber files stored on Digiweb servers may be deleted. Digiweb may terminate this Agreement, your password, your account, or your use of the Services for any reason, including, without limitation, if Digiweb, in its sole discretion, believes you have violated the Agreements or if Subscriber fails to pay any charges when due.
    (c) Sections 11, 20, 21, and 22 of this Agreement shall survive termination of this Agreement.
    (d) Digiweb may terminate this agreement immediately if Subscriber is subject to bankruptcy, insolvency, examinership, receivership, liquidation or any similar proceedings, or in Digiweb’s exclusive opinion is unable to pay fees due to Digiweb.
You'd be better off getting this moved to consumer issues or ask about that there to get advice on where you stand.

As regards using it as a satellite receiver for TV, you will have to modify it with a receiving LNB. Give it back if its a week old. Its an expensive dish if the automatic fee for non return of the equipment clause is enforced.

i had digiweb years ago and trees killed it due to no line of sight, they took back their stuff after 3 years of service but left the wire dangly.
