Do I have to get an aerial to receive Saorview channels?
Does the Sky dish not suffice if using a combo box?

Yes you need an aeriel, it is a digital terrestrial service. Sky signal comes from a satellite.

Only RTÉ 1 and RTÉ 2. The rest are sub-SD, which is a shame.

I can pick up hd channels on the dish from Scotland yet our native channels come in below par.

If you pay Sky then you can get the Saorview channels (in HD) along with others from the satellite.
Without Sky sub you need an aerial to receive the terrestrial broadcasts.

The whole point of the combo box is to have the terrestrial tuner for free Irish TV.

RTE & TG4 are available on the Saorsat fill-in service, but that needs a bigger dish & different LNB, & pointed at a different satellite position. (9 deg. east.)

Hi - I’m looking for assistance if possible.

    I had saorview fitted
(An aerial in the attic running through cable to tv point in wall in bedroom upstairs and tv point in wall in sitting room. Chap connected some cables in small plastic wiring box on outside of house also I think)

I got virgin media broadband fitted.
(Chap showed up, opened small plastic wiring box on side of house and then drilled a hole through into hall and put cable through as estate is pre wired for it. Put modem in hall and WiFi working brilliantly.)

Unfortunately now my saorview shows no channels since.

Any ideas how to fix so I have both?

Difficult to answer without knowing how the aerial is wired to the sockets, did he connect them via the Virgin cable box. Did you have the Virgin analogue channels BBC/UTV/CH4 etc. together with the Saorview channels?

The Virgin guy must have hooked up the TV points too, disconnecting the aerial?

I assume this could be rectified without affecting the broadband connection.
