Frame rates for video...

I'm about to start into a mini project testing my filmmaking and editing... results will be for online consumption, and really just there for my own entertainment.

I have a couple of GoPro's (session & hero 5) and have a DJI Spark drone on the way. I understand that 24 frames/second is usual, but the drone takes 30 without any option to change. I also understand that editing from 30 to 24 doesn't give great results...

So, should I set all cameras to 30? I also want to add some slow motion, so can I use one of the cameras at a much higher rate?

    Please help, very confused!

I have GoPro, and set it to 50fps. To do slow motion, you then can half that for a fairly smooth 24/25 fps.

I think 30/60fps is NTSC (US standard) and then 24/50fps is PAL (European). And then it depends on the resolution - 720, 1440, 2k, 4k, etc. The higher the resolution, the less options you have for fps and generally it's the slower fps on the higher resolution.

Does that mean I need to pre plan my regular speed and slow motion clips? I can't just use parts of a clip for slowmo and others for regular motion? Sorry if the question sounds moronic, I might be overthinking it...

I shoot everything at 50fps. Then, when rendering, I export it at 24fps.

That doesn't make the film slow motion.

But, if I get a clip, at 50fps, and then set the timeframe to double, you have a slow motion clip, and then render at 24 fps.

    Clearer?

In Hollywood. Youtube/FB/The net operate at 30fps.

One thing to note is GoPros dont increase the data rate with framerate so in some cases higher framerates actually reduce detail.

Thanks guys, that helps me understand... Starting out I'm gonna keep everything in multiples of 30...
