    Hi all,

My car failed the nct because seat belt was frayed. I ordered on from ebay and changed it but since changing it, the Airbag light is on. There was a cable that i connected to new seat belt so i guess it knows that it has been changed and it's related to some Airbag. I disconnected battery for 30 mins but still there. Any suggestions on how to turn this off? Is the only option diagnostics reset?

    Thanks all

I suspect you need to clear the logged faults with an OBD-II scanner. Was the battery disconnected when you replaced the belt? The front seatbelts have pretensioners, which are usually pyrotechnic devices that work in conjunction with the airbags.

You wont get far with a odb scanner with airbags.
I'd check the connector you pulled out hasnt been damaged etc

I'd check the airbag wiring under the seat too as you probably were moving it alot to change the belt.

Thanks. Yeah i disconnected battery before unplugging sensor and reconnecting but i did it almost right away. Maybe should have waited a bit after unplugging battery. NCT passed anyway as they only looked at seat belt. Had a look under seat too and didn't see anything disconnected. I guess garage is only option to clear fault...

Hi all, 1 year anniversary and light is still on :) NCT due in a few days. I have a recall on the car for airbags and Toyota looking at it tomorrow. I am hoping they are nice and will reset this annoying light. He said if it's something simple like cables under seat, they will do it but I really think this is a sensor beside the seat belt that I changed last year.

    Thanks all
