Herd number without green cert

    Can a herd number be transferred to a person who has not completed the green cert?

    I thought so, but a teagasc man told me I needed the green cert to get a herd number transferred

    Definitely can happen. I will be doing the same this year with no green Cert.

    If its one of the old herd numbers then you will get a new one. No problem without a green cert,you will just not be eligible for some grants/incentives. I did this in 2016 and had no trouble.

    Green Cert is not needed. I done it in the past 12 months and don't have Green Cert. No Issues. Just a simple inspection as part of the transfer process to validate that decent sheds + cattle crush are in place for animal welfare. 10 minute job!

    If you don't plan on keeping cattle for a few years do you need the crush now?

    Cant answer that one, local teagasc officer should be able to answer it though.
