Does anyone ever check them, with or without a torque wrench?

    If so, how often?

Never check them on a regular basis but if I was putting on new pads or discs I would check all 4 even if just doing one axle. I would count the nuts were present when putting air in the tyres, a safety check of sorts I suppose :pac:

Only a few days after having taken tyres off for something.
    I don't use a torque for it

I check them all to torque every time I take a wheel off (seems to be a lot these days!).
Keep the torque wrench in the boot.

Couple of ugga duggas with the rattle gun is all the torque you'll ever need :p

I check with a torque wrench maybe a week or so after the wheels have been off.
