Hi
I am in switzerland at the moment and was charged 25.44 euro on Monday for 3mb of data.

If you read the eir website it say "If you would like to roam outside of the EEA then you will have to contact one of our eir care team.".

I have not contacted eir to get roaming outside of the EEA so how come I was charged?

    Hi joe25,

Unfortunately data roaming is quite expensive in Switzerland. If roaming is already enabled on the account, you wouldn't need to enable it before travelling.

    Hi

    Your website says different?

How to set up roaming for mobile broadband?
If you are a Pay as You Go customer or Bill Pay customer you are automatically set up to roam within the EEA.
If you would like to roam outside of the EEA then you will have to contact one of our eir care team.

    Their website also says:

    Roaming in Switzerland

Your roaming is automatically enabled for this destination so your are all set to go!

I think it's reasonable for them to assume that anyone planning to go to Switzerland would know that it is often considered part of the EU/EEA for practical purposes.
