Just wondering how long do trainees work for their firms before commencing PPC1 in most cases? I currently have 4 FE1s, hoping to get them all by the end of this year and then go all out to get a traineeship. That would mean I could start PPC1 in September 2019. From my understanding, your firm is obliged to pay your fees if you work for them for a certain number of months before PPC1...

Firms are never obliged to pay your PPC fees. They may be obliged to pay you during your time in PPC1 - I believe it's supposed to be €286.50. The amount the firm pays you during your time in Blackhall varies if they do pay your fees. The Law Society has a breakdown available.
