Does the public service inform people of job application status if unsuccessful?

I've always worked in the private sector but I've recently applied for a public service job (county council). Even if I don't get selected for an interview, will I hear back saying that I'm not being considered, or do I take the silence as their telling me no.

Christmas week and 4th January. Interviews are mid to late February. Not pushed if. Don't get it, I just don't like not knowing

In my experience, yes, with one or two exceptions, I have always heard back in an application for a public sector job. However, the recruitment process can move at a snail's pace.

Ok then, togive tou a rough idea

About 4-5 weeks after the closing date, people get informed if they have been shortlisted for interview

About 4 weeks after that results are announced
Results usually pop out a day or 2 after the final interview

You will get notified either way

Hope it checks out but from my experience internally, this is how it’s been done for the last few years. It can depend on the numbers of applicants and specific job.
