Can't add to your search other than to say I understand these are very, very thirsty and a nightmare to insure. Say that as someone that owns a big block BMW, so nothing against such cars, but something to keep in mind as the running costs tick up.

Personally, I'd import from the UK unless you found one with low owners, non-stop history and decent mileage, they are the type of car that can change hands often.

i know its not a cheap car to get but it has been my dream car for many years now . for me i think its worth all the trouble i have been looking at importing ones even from japan from jdm auction didnt actually consider trying from the uk it might be a good idea , i will look into it thanks for the reply :)

JDM hawkeyes are 2.0 Irish and English ones are 2.5 both wrx and sti.

2.0 is the way to go as the 2.5 is a weaker engine unless you find one that has been rebuilt already.

Imo the thing to look out for is one thats as original as possible hasn't had the life rung out of it. Also if you go jdm make sure its tuned for Irish fuel. Things to watch out for are engine knocking and blue smoke as with any car.

I think up to & including the 'bug eye' Imprezas had the 2.0 litre engine over here. From '05 they got the 2.5 as did the Forester. Previously the turbo Forester had a 2 litre but lower hp (177)

2.5 fozzy 230bhp owner here...Do it, great fun.
Selling mine this year as it doesn't suit my lifestyle anymore but it was fun while it lasted.

I owned 05" WRX for 3 years and its cracking car. Very easy to live as daily, but when you buy one, you need to do maths and see if you can afford to run it.

Uk blobeyes up to 2005 go with 2.0 engines and hawkeye after go with 2.5. Generally 2.0 engine is loved more then 2.5. Only jap imports got 2.0 engines in jawkeye models.

Buying Subaru is easy and cheap, but keep it on the road is different story. Nothing to do with reliability. Its all to do with very poor mpg and insurance.
The only reason I sold my one, was me moving to limerick. My work commute became 120km each day. Its very expensive daily trip in wrx.
Insurance is very hard to get too. Insurance companies run from you like a plague. It became a "bend over and take it in" game. You just stay with company you are with and take all price increases, because no one will insure you.

If you are serious about buying wrx then I would not buy it from donedeal. Go to Isdc and check their for sale subforum. Even then make sure it is being sold by actual member and not just a donedeal blow in. Its very easy to buy dodgy subaru on its last legs. Most of donedeal offerings are dodgy as feck.
