What's the catch/ what's in it for them?

    I'm currently renting a car from a well known car rental agency. My initial booking was made through a 3rd party website.
    Car due back today and I had made a 2nd booking to begin today with same 3rd party website
    Got a call this morning from car rental place offering me 3 extra days and costing 5% less if I extend the contract with them and cancel with 3rd party website.
    The agent was massively chirpy on the phone offering me this. Why? What's in it for them? I feel like I've been hoodwinked in some way but can't put my finger on it.

    Maybe it being a mid week in Jan they have cars sitting around making no money for them. And, by going direct they save on commission to the 3rd party?

    They pay the third party more them 5%. Simple maths for them.

    They know as I called to cancel the reservation and get a refund due to getting an extension with the provider.

    I guess they also save some paperwork and a valet, other wise as above.
