    Hi all,
I have two unusual snags on my 05 Octavia; the heater switch will not operate the blower on the 1,2 and 3 position but it will work on 4. I checked the fuse and it's fine.....the rear wiper is stopped dead at full sweep and will not park. The fuse appears to be okay. Any suggestions?

    regards

    Heater resistor is probably gone.

Heater resistor and wiper motor. Both common issues.

    Hi all,
heater resistor is gone as you have suggested; for those who don't know, on an Octavia, it's under the glove box on the left side, so you have to get down under the box, unscrew two plastic thumbscrews, take down a flimsy plastic panel and you will see the wiring (a loom of four wires) going into the back of the plug body of the resistor. Squeezing two small black plastic levers will allow you to wriggle the resistor plug out of the cavity and the resistor can be easily removed by pressing on a white plastic lever. it takes only a few minutes......the wiper motor is seized so that will have to come out.

Thanks for that. The motor might be salvageable with some careful dismantling and greasing. Change the rubber grommet in the window while your at it, keep the boot dry!!

as a follow-up: I fitted the heater resistor and it works fine; I need to correct slightly what I said above about the removal procedure; press the white lever to get the resistor out of the cavity and then press the two black levers to get it off the plug body....I ordered it from Mister-auto.ie and it finally arrived today, three days late.
