Consistent sore throat

    Hi All,

So I am probably being a hypochondriac but since March 2017 I have been getting consistent sore throats. First one was in March and I got Antiobiotics for it as it appeared to be strep. I was given Zinnat which made me feel ill. Then I felt I had another in June/July 2017 . For about two weeks I had this dry throat and soreness to the left of my throat and a weird senstation in my ear. Went to doc and swab came back normal. After gargling salt and water it seemed to disapate. Then in October I got another sore throat on holidays. Again gargled for a few days with clove oil and salt and water and it seemed to go away. Now again two weeks ago I had a bactarial throat infection and I got antibiotics for. No throat swab the doc just took a look and saw the white spots down the back and said it was bactarial. I had swollen glands and high blood pressure (just not normal for me) which she said was probably due to me fighting the infection. It went away, but this week I feel the tingling in my ear and my throat is dry and scratchy and sore again and white spots down the back. It's highly frustrating.

Sorry to be ranting and waffling on, and maybe making a mountain out of nothing but I am worried now I could have been ignoring something serious. Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be anything serious?

Going to the doc again this week. Any advice would be helpful.

    Sally.

No one here can give you medical advice

You need to take it up with your doctor

    Hi sally ,
I can only give my experience so please take it with a pinch of salt ( not literally )
I used to get sore throats and then it would lead to strep throat and chest infections . Typically 3 a year .
At the time I was doing a lot of sports and I found that the chest infections were quite often with colder weather and I learned to ease off on sports in winter . My ability to breath through my nose was poor so this compounded things ,
Also alcohol , being hydrated and sleeping habits especially have reduced this . Oral/ teeth hygiene also .
Hopefully one of these might be part of your trigger points and help you .

MOD NOTE Pursuing this with the doctor is the way forward as no medical advice can be given here - thread closed
