Recommendations/ opinions on replacement car

I have a family member looking for a replacement car and they are looking for something very reliable, comfortable and fairly efficient. They would prefer something younger than 2008 with cheap tax if possible.
Covering about 20k kms a year so diesel may suffice.
Budget is up to €5k.

Yeah, I had seen that Colm thanks, it was also transferred to current owner early December.
'Paul' also had a van for sale recently under the name 'Mike'.
But it's something like that we're interested in.

Yeah, what got my interest was the tinted windows, advertising it in miles, and claim that it was 150bhp (they’re 125)

Can anyone explain what overmount is? A level of spec.?
I reckon the Laois car is a U.K. Import.

Overmount is a Toyota UK thing. You’re stepping into a minefield there with those Avensiss. There are so many dogs out there. Like that grey one with the wheel trims. I pretty much guarantee you it’s either an ex UK minicab or it’s clocked, or both.

I'll admit I'm slightly biased in my recommendation as it's my own car!
Genuinely reliable though, never given any trouble and has a full service history.

Good call, Fluence also worth a look but not as comfy as the Laguna - which is basically a couch.

Would a renault of that vintage be reliable?
I was once warned off that engine by a diesel fuel repair specialist, he had a particular hatred for those engines.
It would be hardly be got for budget either?

There are loads of Laguna out there for under €5k, there’s even possibly ropey 08 ones for under €2k, so €5k would get you a nice 2010 anyway.

Is that miles or kilometres?
Would be a bit over budget also.

146 km / 90 miles
