My wife is currently looking for a newer car and we've the list down to these 3...

    161 Opel Corsa, 1.4 petrol, 38k mileage
    141 Honda Jazz 1.2 petrol, 40k mileage
    141 Toyota Yaris, 1.3 petrol, 69k mileage

The Opel looks like great value but I'm a little concerned about reliability, any advice for us?

Curious as to how you ended up with these 3,

Not the Corsa anyway. It’s an ancient model that wasn’t class leading in 2006 not to mind 2018.

Probably the Yaris seeing as you’re talking the 1.33 engine. Jazz is a good car, but they’re expensive and not plentiful. Parts are expensive but you hopefully wouldn’t need many anyway.

Why have you left out the likes of the Kia Rio, Hyundai i20, and Ford Fiesta?

Are you looking at manual or automatic cars?

I would go with the Opel, the motor will not let you down as long as it is looked after plus it should still be under manufacturer warranty until 2019.
The Honda and Toyota are great cars too but probably the same price as the Opel which is 2 years newer, which one is your wife more comfortable driving? Is there much of a spec difference?

The Opel is almost certainly an ex hire car.

Here’s it’s more expensive cousin registered in the same batch.

The only ones who buy new Corsas these days are rental companies. They are ancient these days which is why they are cheap.

Thanks so much for that, it's amazing you spotted it.

The reason we were looking at the Yaris and Jazz was they seemed to score highest on reliability.

The Corsa just got in because it looked like great value. But I think we'll stay away based on the response here and from friends that they look like trouble.

It's a manual we're looking for. I'd love to get other suggestions but reliability is our biggest concern.

How are Seat Ibiza's? There's a few of those online which look like great value. Are Ford Fiesta's that reliable?

Look at the Kia Rio and Hyundai i20 instead. They get 7 and 5 year warranties respectively and are well built and reliable.

I think Jazz’s and Yaris are pricey second hand.

Do you have an old car to get rid of?

We've a 2004 Yaris, but I don't think a garage will give us much for it, might get a grand on Donedeal.

Does the Kia warranty transfer when sold?

Yeah the warranty transfers. Limited to 160kkms

If you look after the corsa at regular service intervals they're shouldn't be an issue

It’s the life that it’s had up to now that would be of concern. I always redden any car I ever hire.

Thanks for all the help guys, we ended up going for a Yaris, couldn't find a straight Kia Rio and had to move quickly.

Thanks again for all the help!

Best of look.with it. The 1.33 engine really transforms them into a good car.

Yep it’s a peach of an engine, plus the 6 speed box is fun too
