Central Heating Thermostat

    Hi All

Hoping someone might have an idea for this issue !

Last week my Netatmo thermostat stopped turning the gas boiler off so the radiators just stayed hot all the time. I have tried resetting and reversing the polarity etc.

I went out and got a standard thermostat this morning and it isn't controlling it either now. There are only 2 wires to the thermostat and 3 ports, on off and com. I have tried every combination of wires in the ports but no joy

Could it be something on the boiler as opposed to the thermostat itself ? I have a thermostat for the upstairs zone and that's controlling it with no issue

    Cheers

if it has only two wires and it still runs that over rules that stat being faulty, if it stays off you need a meter to see which two terminals on your replacement stat open and close on temp

Looks like it might be the motorised valve. Seems to be stuck open

    I'll call a man !

It's likely that a small micro switch on the motorised valve is what is calling the boiler to switch on.

I went through about 3 of these (electrically, they are not up to the job) before I replaced it with a contactor.

Same symptoms, heat is on no matter what the clock or thermostat says.

Best way to verify (if you can get it to turn off) is to use the override lever on each motorised valve and see if it controls the boiler.
