eflow penalties from previous owner

    Hi all,

Today I went to pay a M50 penalty from a toll I forgot to pay last week (6.10 euros) but when I opened the penalties page, I got a big surprise.

There was about 10-11 penalties to be paid, all costing 47.10 euros. All of them from the previous owner.

What should I do in this case? I contacted him telling about these penalties but got no reply.

The ownership document in my name is dated after all these penalties.

What should I do in this case? Or what could happen?

    Thanks

    Call them.

If the ownership document shows you purchased the car after those dates, you have nothing to be concerned about, obviously. Just give the Toll people a call and alert them. No hassle.

Ring them, they are usually very easy to deal with.

elfow are normally pretty decent about this type of thing. Contact them, explain the situation and tell them you'd like to open an account. You'll get a discount on the toll, you won't have to worry about remembering to pay and they have been known to wipe any previous charges away.

Contacted them, it's all sorted now.

From these 11 penalties of 47.10, 2 were in the date he transferred the car to me - but they managed to reduce both to 6 euros because they were the first tolls with the new owner (in this case, me, although I didn't drive the car on that date).

They also had the details when the ownership was changed. They said that I don't have to worry about the previous penalties, and they are already contacting some lawyers to charge the old ones, which will be all increased to over 100 each. Previous owner will have some headaches now.

Thumbs up to eflow and for ye lads for the quick reply.

    Thanks all.

If only every Irish company had customer service like eFlow.

I'm surprised they charged you if (if they did) for the first two tolls - have you your insurance cert showing at what time you transferred insurance to your new car?

I got the insurance one week later I got the car because the day after I was on holidays for 4 days.

But think they charged me based on the day I owned the car, not the day I got the insurance.

I didn't have a car previously, so it was a new insurance.
