How long to hear back from Interview if successful or not?

    Hi guys

Attended a near 2 hour interview/role play for a large multinational company last Monday - interview was with 2 directors who both were to score my interview, send their thoughts back to Recruitment and HR who told me I would hear back by yesterday (Friday)

Still nothing, then yesterday afternoon an email to say one of the interviewers had yet to send back feedback and I would hear back next week.

As a person I'm naturally paranoid and now I'm thinking if my interview was impressive they'd have sent feedback immediately, also thinking what if something came up, he didn't have time to send it, but by the time he did had forgotten how it went (in my opinion went well) and doesn't rate it as highly as I should

Or am I worrying over nothing?

    Thanks! :)

As someone who has conducted interviews, they would not be high up on my list of priorities. Anything that comes up would bump them down the list.

They are important to hr (constantly sending reminder emails) and the applicant.

I'd take the Friday update at face value and not personalise the delay.

Chill... No news is good news! It's great that they were professional enough to get back to you with an update on things - that most likely indicates they're interested in you...

Ah the waiting game, we've all been there

It's true if you're unsuccessful you can get a rejection email straight away but also true they'll never even let you know  Happened me a few times

I like the fact that HR are keeping you updated and giving a reason, that's better than you get from many HR departments. They sound pretty efficient to me

The director would have taken notes I'm sure, doesn't everyone in interviews and meetings.

You still have every chance of getting this, best of luck OP!

    Thank you!

One of the directors took notes on a laptop, the other questioned me

The guy who took notes is the guy who has yet to send the feedback

I just naturally feel that if I stood out that much and interviewed well, this would have hastened his urgency to send feedback. As he hasn't, now I'm naturally pessmimistic

But as has been said, maybe something came up :o

    Still nothing :-/

She told me on Friday I would hear back Monday (yesterday) but still no word back

    Optimism is gradually draining unfortunately

Also might be the case that you are their back up and they are waiting for their first choice to accept. I would be extremely annoyed and it would be very unprofessional of them not to give you some form of reply after going through the interview process with them.

I am in the same boat at the moment. I have been interviewing with an organisation since mid-December. I reached the end of that process last week and they told me that they'd be in touch in a few days. Still heard nothing back from them. It's very frustrating.

Hard to know what to do. Part of me is saying email them first thing tomorrow, if you don't hear back but some say that emailing them is not a good idea.
